The Trauma Center is a program of Arbour Health System, the largest private mental health and substance abuse treatment system in Massachusetts. The Medical Director of the Trauma Center is Bessel van der Kolk, MD, an internationally recognized leader in the field of psychological trauma.
These Trauma Pages focus primarily on emotional trauma and traumatic stress, including PTSD (Post-traumatic Stress Disorder), whether following individual traumatic experience(s) or a large-scale disaster. The purpose of this award winning site is to provide information for clinicians and researchers in the traumatic-stress field. Pat Ogden, Ph.D. and Kekuni Minton have co-authored an article entitled Sensorimotor Psychotherapy: One Method for Processing Traumatic Memory which is posted here.
The USABP was founded in June, 1996 by a group of 20 clinicians and trainers representing most of the major disciplines and modalities of the field. The goals of the USABP are to raise the profile of Body Psychotherapy within the health and psychotherapy fields and within the society as a whole; and to open discussion between modalities and schools, creating a language and a practice that distills the most effective elements from the diverse approaches to "embodiment"
represented in the membership. Visit their website to learn more about the benefits of membership.
